To import goods into New Zealand, your business must operate under approved processes and procedures outlined by MAF Biosecurity NZ. MAF Biosecurity NZ administers the New Zealand biosecurity system and regulations, to protect the welfare of New Zealanders, our environment and our international trade relationships.
When a sea container arrives into New Zealand, it must be delivered to a MAF-approved transitional facility, as determined in the Transitional Facility General Standard (TF-GEN). Businesses importing goods regularly can be approved by MAF Biosecurity NZ to operate a transitional facility and have accredited personnel operating, overseeing and providing biosecurity checks on sea containers, in accordance with the New Zealand regulatory requirements.
IVS helps you determine the fastest and most cost-effective way for goods to gain border clearance and release. In most cases, the overview of the process below will minimise delays.
