ICPR changes

July 2010 - Changes to Forest Products Export Standards

Attn: Exporters of Forest Products

The Importing Country Phytosanitary Requirements [ICPR's] for Malaysia and Kiribati were updated in July 2010 as follows:

Malaysia

The ICPR for Malaysia has been amended to better reflect the emphasis that must be placed on import permits. As an import permit is now required for logs and sawn timber going to Malaysia, the conditions stated on the import permit must be met. ICPRs have accordingly been amended:

  • The requirement for an import permit to be issued within the 14 days prior to dispatch of logs and sawn timber has been amended.
  • The specifications for heat treatment of sawn timber has been amended.
  • The specifications for fumigation treatment of sawn timber has been amended.
  • ** Read more about the Malaysia Import Permit Grace Period Extension here **

Please note that any time limits and treatment specifications stated on import permits must be met in order for a phytosanitary certificate to be issued.
