Changes to the Malaysian ICPR

Malaysia Import Permit Grace Period Extension

After receiving advice from their import agent in Malaysia, IVS clients, City Forests and Advance International did some research on the Malaysian Department of Agriculture website.  They discovered a recent notification, that when translated, stated there is now an amnesty on the need for import permits until the end of August.

IVS passed this information on to MPI Biosecurity NZ and they have agreed that permits are not required until the 1st of September 2010.

If you read the disclaimers above the ICPR’s on the MPI Biosurity NZ website, they state that it is up to importers to determine the correct requirements for the importing country.  This is an excellent example of exporters following this advice and achieving a positive outcome.

If you choose to do something similar, please note that you must first send us a copy (in writing, email is fine) of any requirements you have obtained and they must be official i.e. listed on the official website (usually the department of agriculture), or an import permit or official letter from the relevant authority, both of which need to be stamped and signed.

If you have any questions or need any further assistance, please get in touch.
