Modern Apprenticeship Programme in Freight Forwarding

Do you need extra support to get new people trained?

IVS offer a specialised Modern Apprenticeship programme in freight forwarding.  This programme allows apprentices to work towards completing the National Certificates in Freight Forwarding within two to three years.  The apprentice is assigned an independent co-ordinator who monitors their progress and mentors them during the course. 

The programme is an excellent way to launch a career within the industry for trainees who gain the full benefits of full-time work, experience, new skills - and all without a student loan.

At IVS we understand that our trainees are individuals who want to learn at their own pace.   Delivery of training can be tailored to suit the learning style of our trainees, to ensure they are fully supported and can achieve maximum benefit from the completion of their qualification.

Trainee Website; The IVS Trainee Website for National Certificate in International Freight Forwarding provides trainees with tools and resources to assist in the completion of Unit Standards towards their qualification.  Trainees can login to the secure site to;

  • View their training progress
  • Access and download course material, study guides and assessments
  • Register to attend weekly training workshops
  • Find out more about Bootcamp! a great way for trainees to stay on track with their course work and complete assessments
  • Share knowledge with other trainees on the Discussion Board
  • Read latest news and updates from their tutor

Training Workshops; There are no study obligations for trainees during normal working business hours, however trainees do have the option of attending our regular weekly workshops between 5.30-7.30pm (Airport Oaks) or 7.00am to 9.00am (North Shore).  Participation in training workshops is optional.

Day Trips; In additional to the Trainee Website and Workshops offered, we provide the following day trips to;

  • MAF Biosecurity NZ
  • Customs New Zealand
  • A distribution centre and warehouse (including a Customs Bond Store)
  • Ports of Auckland

Day trip transport is organised by IVS as part of your training programme, however trainees are welcome to make their own way whenever necessary.  Details of Day Trips will be provided as part of the Trainee Training Plan.

Costs

Course fees will depend on the level of study trainees choose.  IVS offers three options;

  1. Modern Apprentice Programme | National Certificate in Freight Forwarding (encompassing both Levels 3 & 4) - duration 24 months or less
  2. National Certificate in International Freight Forwarding (Level 3) – duration 12 months or less
  3. National Certificate in International Freight Forwarding (Level 4) – duration 12 months or less
